Cedar Hills is Perfectly Positioned for Young Professionals

Just north of the City of Beaverton and tucked against Tualatin Hills Park, Cedar Hills is a quiet neighborhood home to about 9,000 residents. A small suburban community within a quick jaunt to downtown Portland, Cedar Hills has a ton to offer in just 2.3 square miles. In fact, the real estate website Niche.com calls Cedar Hills one of the best places to live in Oregon.

Cedar Hills Amenities

Cedar Hills packs a surprising number of large retailers into its compact space. In the Cedar Hills Crossing shopping center, you can find restaurants, grocery stores, and a ton of shopping options. There’s even a branch of Powell’s for the bibliophile in your life. Stop by McMenamins Cedar Hills for dinner and a taste of 40 taps at this beloved Northwest chain. Fans of spätzle must also check out Bargarten Bavarian Social Haus for a biergarten-style eating experience. After dinner, a stroll around Cedar Hills Park is the perfect way to wrap up any evening.

Originally named for the cedar forests, which first drew loggers to the area, Cedar Hills remains true to its woodsy heritage. The lovely Commonwealth Lake Park is a wonderful place to soak in the natural scenery by its placid pond. If you look up Cedar Hills on google maps, the vast majority of images are of this stunning local park. And if that wasn’t enough, Tualatin Hills Nature Park offers paved trails and playgrounds nestled in a landscape of trees and ferns. Looking for a rigorous hike? Lush Forest Park is less than 15 minutes away. The Wildwood Trail ambles a good 30 miles from end to end, so even the most enthusiastic trail-trotters won’t run short of places to ramble.

Great For Young Professionals

Not only is Cedar Hills one of the best places to live in Oregon, but Niche also named it the best Oregon town for young professionals. Washington County hosts numerous employment opportunities with major companies, including Nike and Intel. As a result of such sterling opportunities, the county boasts the highest median income in Oregon. With such fantastic places to work, it’s no surprise that so many up-and-coming professionals choose to make Cedar Hills their home.

A Fantastic School District

Cedar Hills may be a good place for working professionals, but it’s also an excellent area to raise a family. The third-largest in the state, The Beaverton School District is proud of its high graduation rates and numerous schools. The district also ranked as fifth-best in the entire state of Oregon. Students speak 94 languages across Beaverton School District households, and 53 percent of the student body identify as students of color. On average, instructors draw from over a decade of teaching experience in their careers.

Perfectly Positioned

Cedar Hills is a tight-knit community. Much of the neighborhood is under the jurisdiction of the The Homes Association of Cedar Hills. Part of what keeps property values high is the HOA’s attention to keeping the look of Cedar Hills consistent and attractive. The Association also owns and maintains several common areas for the benefit of residents.

Curated With Care

As the sixth-best suburb to buy a house in Oregon, it’s hardly surprising that 62 percent of Cedar Hills residents own their homes compared to 38 percent who rent. In this small yet desirable area, the demand is high. With the median home price at $427,000, people are eager to get their foot in the door of this prime location.

Popular For Home-Owners

Cedar Hills sits just a couple minutes north of all The City of Beaverton has to offer. With a population of over 97,000, there’s not much you could ask for that Beaverton can’t provide. As the fifth-largest city in the Portland metropolitan area, Beaverton is also known for its diversity. Beaverton is an exciting getaway with a bustling downtown and an endless variety of cuisines just five minutes away.

And for an even wider variety, the West Hills of Portland is less than a 15-minute drive away. Pittock Mansion, a French Renaissance-style château, is a classic destination in western Portland. Tour the house or the sprawling grounds before ducking down the Wildwood Trail for as long as you care to follow it. The Oregon zoo is another great nearby option. Featuring 64 acres of broad paths and fascinating animal exhibits, the zoo offers fun for all ages. Whether you’re cruising through a 15-minute drive or hopping on the MAX at the Beaverton Park And Ride, it’s a cinch to get downtown from Cedar Hills.
